REWARD REQUESTS & ACTIVITY POINTS
GENERAL INFORMATION |
---|
Activity in Tu Shanshu is rewarded with AC points, which can be redeemed for unlocking plot developments, acquiring personal possessions, gaining special items, and IC rewards such as favours from the NPCs. All points are awarded per character and cannot be transferred between characters on a player's roster. Information on how to earn points can be found under the section on activity checks and AC points in the Rules post. So you've racked up a few AC points. What next? Below is a list detailing what it's currently possible to spend AC points on. Please note that this is not an exhaustive list, and that more rewards might become available as the game progresses. Player suggestions are absolutely taken into consideration as well, and can be made to the game HMD. |
THE PERCENTAGE POINT SYSTEM |
Players who successfully complete an activity check can earn anywhere from 1 to 4 points per character, per month. These are tracked on the Reward Point spreadsheet for every character, which is mod-upkept after completing each month's AC. (So you don't need to keep track of your points, we do it for you!) However, the redemption process for AC points works on a percentage scale, in order to best facilitate fairness between players who have different time commitments. Various types of rewards carry a different percentage cost of a character's overall total, detailed below. A character must have a minimum of 5 AC points in order to request any rewards; new characters just joining the game are given a starter 5 points. Where the percentage becomes a partial number, the cost will always be rounded down, unless in the case of a minimum of 2 points. Don't worry, we've provided examples! • River has 9 AC points, and wishes to get a canon possession from home. 20% of 9 points is 1.8. Because that is lower than the minimum, River's canon possession will cost 2 points. • Anton has 15 AC points, and wishes to have an NPC do him a favour. 20% of 15 points is 3, so Anton's favour will cost 3 points. • Skulduggery has 32 AC points, and wants to discover a plot development. 30% of 32 points is 9.6, so his plot discovery will cost 9 points. • Bakura has 7 AC points, and wants to find a special item. 40% of 7 points is 2.8, so his special item will cost 2 points. • Solomon has 4 AC points. He must acquire at least 1 more AC point before he can request any rewards. |
AVAILABLE TYPES OF REWARDS |
CANON POSSESSIONS - 20% So, you'd like your character to regain some of their canon possessions! These items can be anything, from aspects of their superhero life (would you like Tony Stark to be upgraded to the Mark 6 armor?) to sentimental bits and bobs from home (a picture or trinket belonging to a loved one, etc) to pets or other non-appable companions. Once the reward is approved for your character, they will discover the possession ICly either during the game's next scheduled landfall, or on the black market - whichever you decide. When requesting this reward, players have a choice of using their AC points to purchase either one large item or two small items from their canon per reward. Large items are defined as vehicles, firearms, items of significant power, or large pets - anything that would be noticed in Keeliai and/or grant your character an extra measure of magical competence in any field. If you're requesting a large item, then the item should be something of importance and canonically indicated to be possessed by or strongly associated with that character. Examples of this include a Green Lantern's specific power battery, a pet or similar companion associated specifically with that character (such as Naga for Korra), or weapons/armor that the character is stated to have/is seen in possession of during their canon material. The item should not break the game or plot mechanics as established thus far, nor provide a simple answer to major conflicts. Examples of this would be any such deus ex machina item that provides a simple wrap-up to complicated issues (see: the genie lamp in Aladdin solving the Jafar problem with an itty-bitty living space). Small items are defined as items of minor consequence that are relatively associated with or of interest to the character as established in canon. Examples of this include ambrosia for the demigods, favourite foods, books, or trinkets. Characters may receive these items ICly as soon as the mods have approved both the reward and the suitability of the items in question. While we note that there may always be an exception to the rules outlined above, requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis. NPC FAVOURS - 20% There are a number of mod-controlled NPCs in Keeliai - Tu Yunxu, Heojin, Zanru, Xuiyu, Milyn and Aroyan being the main ones. (Details on each of these NPCs can be found on the NPCs page.) From time to time as the plot progresses, any one of these NPCs might ICly approach a player character to propose a deal or discuss a favour. If this happens, the mods will contact the player in question. However, it's also possible for Foreigners to request favours from the NPCs. The favour can encompass anything from protection to technical knowledge to special produce. As long as the favour is one the NPCs would ICly consider, and it's within their power to grant, players can purchase these favours using OOC AC points and agreed-upon IC bargaining tools, such as a small amount of juulan. PLOT DEVELOPMENTS - 30% There are two primary types of plot development requests that can be made which fall under this reward type. The first is an information reveal about an ongoing event or metaplot arc, whether it be a secret about an NPC, a discovery made from an investigation, or a clue dropped in a character's lap to kick off a new adventure. In the past, players have used this type of reward to: • find an enemy's secret base • discover metaplot information about the game setting • find out information about new technology and weaponry • track down a mysterious NPC These are only some suggestions as to what counts as a plot development, and we are completely open to players suggesting new things. While it's not a requirement to spend points on this sort of request in order to further the game's metaplot (which everyone has access to), these particular types of rewards are highly tailored to the characters requesting them, and provide a sort of personalized aspect that many players enjoy. The other type is a location discovery, which generally happen (but not always) during a landfall event. They can be either one-offs or places which can spur a mini-event (eg, Fountain of Youth or Beach of the Scantily-Clad Nymphomaniacs). While the possibility for discovering these locations will usually only occur during landfalls due to the limited nature of the turtle's back, they can be requested at any time. The exact nature of these special locations is largely determined by what the players who purchase them ask for. For example, if you were to apply for a special location during a landfall and asked for a healing spring, you might not get a bona fide healing spring, but you will get something that contains water and has healing properties. What characters do with these locations is entirely up to them. Bear in mind that while the character who discovers the location is the one spending the AC points, they may ICly choose to share it with other characters in the game. This is perfectly fine, and will not result in anyone else spending AC points. Two heads are better than one, after all, and characters working together to investigate will provide more opportunity for everyone to experience the effects of these locations. SPECIAL ITEMS - 40% At any time during the game, a player may request a special item for their character. These special items are always magical in nature and are usually uniquely powerful. Some of them will have a long history within the world of Tu Shanshu, changing hands and owners and continents dozens of times before winding up in your character's possession; others will be unique items that fell through the Dreaming rift from other worlds and canons, just like the Foreigners did. If you're requesting this reward, you may ask for a particular category of item, or a particular effect - for example, defense, healing, divination, levitation, etc. The exact item granted is at the discretion of the mods, but it will always be an item related to the requested category. Once OOCly granted, your character may discover the item ICly in one of two ways: on the black market or on the mainland during a landfall. The mods will provide the location of the item, but the exact method of retrieval is left up to the player. |
REQUESTING A REWARD? |
You apply for them on this post! A public record of the number of AC points per character is available on this gdoc. Please note that there is a maximum limit of four (4) reward requests per character, per month and that only two of that count may be used in the same reward category. For example, you could request two canon possessions, one NPC favour and one special item, but not three canon possessions and one special item. If you have questions about any of the rewards available or how to earn them, please contact the mods or post to the Gameplay FAQ. Otherwise, post a new comment using the template below. Please be patient as it may take a few days to answer your requests, because of time zones. If your request is time-sensitive due to metaplot, please indicate that when making the request. |

One night while asleep, Bisi will experience a very vivid dream. In the dream, she will be walking (her chair is not in sight, and she will experience a normal stride) through the city, following a stream of light that wanders its way through the various sectors until it ends in the Wood Sector. At the base of a large tree, she will be overcome with the urge to dig, and under about a foot of dirt, she will find half of a large gold medallion, which appears to have been cleanly split into two pieces, though the other piece isn't present in the hole.
The medallion half will allow Bisi to access the Somatic Link, and although it will not contact directly with Tu Vishan (as such contacts cannot happen, given that Asti's essence is too enormous), it will allow her to have incredibly lucid and controlled dreams, where she is able to make decisions and affect how the dream goes.
Six points have been deducted from Bisi's total count on the tracking spreadsheet.

OOC: As an aside note, it was Evastelei who took the Foreigners into the Dreaming. We've noted a few inconsistencies with which former NPCs Bisi has been researching, and encourage you to take a look at the bottom section of the NPCs and Groups page, as it better clarifies what the role of Eshai/Evandau/Eva was.
