PLAYER PLOTS & EVENTS
REGARDING PLAYER PLOTS |
---|
This page is for two types of activity: informing us of player plots which are large enough to impact the cityscape in some way (ie; not only limited to a small group of characters), and for suggesting ideas for upcoming events for all characters to take part in. It is our goal to provide players with a wide variety of events and plots, with large scale events like worldbuilding and discovery, the developing political scene in Konryu, and smaller and more localized plots like happenings in Keeliai. Our intention, metaplot allowing, is to have landfalls approximately every four to six months, balanced with smaller mini-events in between. Player plots will of course be added into that mix, with whatever dates work best for those coordinating it, save where it drastically clashes with any current event. We'll always try to work with any suggestions for timing. Additionally, the steps to submit an event suggestion are detailed at the bottom of this page. Player-run events are welcomed, on the grounds that anything impacting more than a handful of player characters is run past the mods for approval via the below directions. |
WANT TO SUGGEST AN EVENT? |
Player-run event suggestions are welcomed here at Tu Shanshu! Please note that these are different from the plot developments that are part of the Reward Points system. Those are for metaplot related discoveries, whereas player plots here have no AC points cost. Any event that you submit and that is approved by the mods then becomes your responsibility to facilitate during the time period assigned at the time of approval. The key duty is to provide an OOC planning post with details a few days prior to the event, then start and end OOC posts. To suggest an event, copy and complete the below form and post it in a comment on this page. The mods will discuss the details and get back to you regarding your idea. |
Plot Suggestion
Instigating Character/Incident: The Dreaming
Event Outline:
The foreigners have grown complacent and the Dreaming has decided to teach them something about themselves by aggravating a flaw that they possess and forcing them to confront it in the physical world.
Areas Affected: Only the Foreigners.
Long-Term Impact:
The Foreigners learn something about themselves and hopefully are better for it.
Suggested Duration & Dates:
Perhaps During Landfall

Instigating Character/Incident: Obi-Wan and any other Star Wars Characters/the Dreaming?
Event Outline:
After the arrival of Obi-Wan and any other Force-Sensitive characters that come after him, their influence with the Force creates a disturbance that affects the merging of the Dreaming and Life planes. This allows the Force to become more prevalent and causes some Foreigners and even Kedan to become Force Sensitive.
Areas Affected: All of Keeliai
Long-Term Impact: Kedan and Foreigners are able to develop Force Sensitivity.
Suggested Duration & Dates: I'll leave this up to mod discretion.

Instigating Character/Incident: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Galen Marek, and Kylo Ren
Event Outline: These four guys together will try to reach Tu Vishan using the Force!
Areas Affected: Tu Vishan
Long-Term Impact: As discussed they won't be successful in reaching him but apparently something will happen?
Suggested Duration & Dates:
Sometime this week, shortly after Pepper's network post about waking up the turtle.

When the Force-users attempt to reach Tu Vishan, at first they will gain a sense of a blanket shrouding their 'vision' -- not one that's pressing, as they won't be able to sense it without the benefit of the others' help, but enough to feel as though there is something there.
On reaching out to it, they'll find this presence stretches too far for them to sense the end of it from where they are; and though they can reach it, it will feel as though it is a distance away, barely within their grasp.
There will be no noticeable difference to this 'presence' through their Force-sense, no matter what they do, but when they emerge from their attempt they'll find out from kedan that the Keeliai power grid flickered while they were trying to make contact. Additionally, the shell's glow, once vibrant and now dull, flickered in tandem -- the first brightening since Malicant's defeat.
no subject
If that's cool with you, I'll go ahead and make an OOC post.
Police Force!
Instigating Character/Incident: Valdis and Pepper in this log: http://tushanshu-logs.dreamwidth.org/393451.html?thread=40338411#cmt40338411
Event Outline: Valdis gets it in her head to create a police force that can rival the Snakes. A few of her advanced students and several gang leaders would join together under Valdis, Gene and other foreigners to build the foundation for a police force as well as laws for Keeliai. Their duties would include patrols, escorts, enforcing the basic rights of the kedan and investigating crimes. Hopefully, in time, they can team with the college forensics labs to investigate crimes and build or restore a jail and headquarters. Valdis hopes that this police force will eventually guard the laws written by the young government that Pepper is trying to build and become self sustaining under a leader from among the Kedan. The Police force would be volunteer and run on donations from the public.
Areas Affected:All of Keeliai
Long-Term Impact:
Rule of Law is no longer decided by the Snakes
Snake power depleted and challenged
Other Kedan have greater degree of influence
Foundation for written laws
An actual prison
Job creation
Suggested Duration & Dates: Ongoing
Additional Notes:
Requested Allied Gangs (By Sector):
1 in Central
1 in Fire
2 in Earth
1 in Metal
Location:
Perhaps the old Police Headquarters?
no subject
Please note that the Snakes' mansion has replaced the old police headquarters, so their first order of business should probably be finding a good central location as a new one.
Also be aware that, as specified in the previous two months' itineraries, there are already investigative resources in Keeliai. The manner in which a Foreigner-driven policing force interacts with them will also influence the results of this plot.

Instigating Character/Incident: Following on the announcement of the Foreigner-run police force, and the events laid out in the June Itinerary. Includes Pepper Potts, Valdis, and Gene Khan; tangentially the other Foreigners involved in the police force.
Event Outline: There’s a need for cooperation and coordination with Keeliai as a whole, particularly those groups that have a lot of existing influence and existing investigative resources. Making an open invitation to Keeliai to meet at the Courtyard of Public Opinion, Pepper would like to propose a potential system to provide structure and oversight to the police force(s) and begin to lay the groundwork for a government truly defined by citizenship. Obviously, input from others is welcome. The idea she plans to propose are two different council or committee groups:
The first group would be tasked with developing the outline of a new government - drafting something like a charter or constitution to define how the government itself ought to operate in broad strokes based on input from historical laws and from the general public. The second group would be something like a judicial branch, enforcing what existing laws they have on record (equal trials); and giving oversight to the police force while opening the floor to coordinating with other investigative groups.
Each group would have 2 representatives from each sector of the city, ideally who do not have significant ties or influence within any one Family or gang; and 1 Foreigner representative. Thus each council would have 15 people. The council positions would be filled by volunteers, or if there are too many people interested, by a short election process within each sector.
Areas Affected: All of Keeliai
Long-Term Impact:
Oversight provided for the Foreigner-run police force
Coordination with other investigative groups
Lays the groundwork for actual governmental structure with equal representation, defined largely by the kedan rather than the Foreigners
Taxes (oh dear)
Laws enforced more equally with less bias due to family and gang ties
Suggested Duration & Dates: Start circa July 1st (or first week of July, post July 4th maybe?) for the Courtyard event, then ongoing

Instigating Character/Incident: Zatanna (somewhat)/A few Misplaced potion bottles leading to a whole lot of unintended mischeif...
Event Outline: MIS-SPELL REDUX: Early in the morning, Zatanna awaits the arrival of a few potion ingredients. She specially ordered these from one of the local shops a week back, and plans on using them later in the month. However, what she doesn't realize right away is that...there's been a major mixup, and her four potion bottles--which have yet to be fully stabilized--were accidentally switched out with several herbal tea flavorings of similar color and bottle design.
Each of these "flavorings" will be delivered to four separate tea shops, each in a different sector, to later be determined through trial and error. Any character who drinks tea flavored from one of these bottles will experience one of the following effects:
(1) ALIGNMENT SWITCH - (can be either elemental in nature or simply good/evil)
(2) NEGATION OF THE TRANSLATION MATRIX - an aura around the character means that they will suddenly understand ONLY the languages they already speak; characters who speak to them, either in person or over the network, will ONLY Hear the language being spoken by that character.
(3) TRANSFORMATION - characters can either be transformed to younger/older versions of themselves, OR can be transformed into any version of any animal (real or mythological).
(4) PERSONALITY FRACTURING - characters will be split into two or more "versions" of themselves. Can either be split into a "good" self/"bad" self, or even be split into multiple personalities based on individualized emotions. The more tea the character drinks, the more times they will be split. This one, in particular, has the added bonus of not being able to be fixed until all versions are back in the same place.
In addition, since this time the cultprit won't be immediately identified or known, there could be an element of mystery as people try to figure out what the heck is happening and why this is all going on. The potions could take effect anywhere from five minutes to half an hour after initial ingestion, deepening the mystery.
Areas Affected: The entire city of Keelai. However, because of the semi-random nature of the event, it could be entirely OPT-IN, and characters who don't want to be affected can simply not come across any of the potions.
Long-Term Impact: I suppose that would depend upon what, precisely, ends up played out with the potions, which means that such aftermaths would be mainly player-driven. Zatanna, of course, will try to keep a better eye on those potion bottles in the future once she figures out the cause of all this. And use a better courier service.
Suggested Duration & Dates: I was thinking having this be in Mid to Late July, since August appears to be a busy month for myself & some other players. It would probably last about a week, give or take.

Instigating Character/Incident: The Cultists
Event Outline: The Cultists have developed a new weapon, and it's time to test it. They've somehow weaponised the drug Dust and have dropped it in the Courtyard of Public Opinion to see what will happen. Basically, riots, drug withdrawls and a huge mess of things. The Police Force and the Healer's Guild will be the ones dealing with the fallout, and investigating the incident. Clues should lead back to the cultists, but it's entirely the mod's decision how vague and twisted the path back is.
Areas Affected: Courtyard of Public Opinion and surrounding areas the riot spills out into
Long-Term Impact: The Cultists showing that they're more of a threat, and are able to act on it, and the relevant impact that will have on the Foreigners and Kedan.
Suggested Duration & Dates: 2 days for the riot, the fallout could take however long it takes to find out who's responsible. I'm hoping some time mid-late August for the actual riot.

Instigating Character/Incident: Milyn's Experiments
Event Outline: Milyn's experiments have gone too far and Valdis cannot ignore them any longer. She plans to have Milyn arrested on charges of medical malpractice, unethical conduct and endangerment of her fellow Kedan.
Areas Affected: All of Keeliai
Long-Term Impact: The closing of Milyn's clinic. Potential rise in approval/disapproval of the Police Force. Perhaps some loss of Milyn's research on the drugs. Milyn being in jail.
Suggested Duration & Dates: Arrest and following announcement on the 11th of December.

We'd ask that you make a post in the OOC comm a before the event occurs, and a network post and/or log for those involved.
If you have any questions, please let us know.

Instigating Character/Incident: Sonja approaching the city council/merchants/any large temple(s) about holding a new years party.
Event Outline: On the 28th (the new moon), there'll be a big celebration to welcome the new year, encouraging local vendors to make traditional foods, have parades/dances/performances hold rites at temples, maybe fireworks will be possible??
Areas Affected: Primarily the Gardens, maybe college campuses or any participating temples or main avenues.
Long-Term Impact: better foreigner/kedan relations, maybe?
Suggested Duration & Dates: January 28th
no subject
In light of the hurricane and damages caused by it, including the rebuilding which will still be ongoing at that point (as detailed on the itinerary) Sonja will have some trouble gathering enough sponsors for supplying the event. Many believe it to be ill-timed or in poor taste, when people's houses are still being rebuilt and full functionality of the city being restored. Conversely, there will be some who welcome the reprieve from the cleanup efforts, giving people a chance to take a break from that distressing task. Overall, kedanese public opinion will be split on the event.
If you could please include a post in the OOC comm a few days before the event; if you wish to do a collective log for people to tag into, that would also be excellent.

Instigating Character/Incident: The dreaming?
Event Outline:
Foreigners suddenly find themselves seeing strange memories belonging to other foreigners.
It would be set off by close physical proximity or touch. Characters involved would find themselves experiencing a short vision or dream showing a short memory from the other character.
Areas Affected:
Only the Foreigners. Event would be entirely opt-in.
Long-Term Impact:
The Foreigners might learn some new things about each other.
Suggested Duration & Dates:
A week. Possibly mid February?
no subject
Please include a post in the OOC comm a few days before the event to coordinate with other players; if you also choose to do an IC log, that is fine as well.
If you have any questions, please let us know.

Instigating Character/Incident: Sherlock Holmes, who is a terrible instigator.
Event Outline: Sherlock wants to get the cultists attention by publicly announcing that he knows how to stabilize what's in the red dust. (he really just has theories)
Areas Affected: Sherlock's house as he will be waiting for them there unless they would like a different meeting location.
Long-Term Impact: The cultists will know he has been experimenting with their drug
Suggested Duration & Dates: Whenever is convenient for the mods.
no subject
You may have Sherlock make the post on the network at any time, and the mods will NPC the role(s) of cultists responding to the claim. Whether this evolves into a face to face meeting will depend on the outcome of the network post communication, and to which end the mods will thread that out with you and any other characters Sherlock chooses to involve as well (as part of this same plot request - no need to make a separate one).
If you have any questions, please let us know.

Instigating Character/Incident: Danny/The Dreaming
Event Outline:
Danny comes from a canon that happens to feature some artifacts with really absurd side effects. Blame it on his presence here, blame it on his one year anniversary, but one of the weirder ones is about to follow him here through the Dreaming.
The Amulet of Aragon has the unique side effect of turning anyone who wears it into a dragon the first time they lose their temper while wearing. In order to return to their regular selves, someone needs to remove the necklace.
Plot:
1. one to three volunteers will be recruited to find the necklace, depending on interest. For plot purposes, it will be assumed the necklace comes with a compulsion to wear it.
2. The first time the volunteer loses their temper after putting the necklace on, they will transform into a dragon and immediately attack the source of their anger. This can be actual anger or it could just be a source of mild annoyance.
3. This will not end until someone manages to remove the necklace.
4. If there is more than one volunteer, the necklace will then get lost until it is picked up by the next person.
Areas Affected: Keeliai
Long-Term Impact: Some property damage is possible. Possibly more irritation at the foreigners.
Suggested Duration & Dates: less than a week. Whenever is convenient.

A time limit would be a good addition. Say 24 hours for each person?
no subject
Given the potential for property damage to occur and the subsequent reactions of the city at large, this will be mentioned in the upcoming itinerary. If you could please include a post in the OOC comm a few days before the event for planning and logistics; if you wish to do a collective log for people to tag into, that would also be excellent.
If you have any questions, please let us know!

Instigating Character/Incident: Unbearable humidity and stormclouds.
Event Outline: I'd like Kratos to be able to create a few proper rain-and-lightning storms. He can't generate them from scratch himself; he's just taking advantage of the conditions being ripe for it by applying his lightning skills to the stormclouds.
He'd start with a network post to make sure that actual storms wouldn't interfere with anyone (eg the farms), so if the NPCs all decide to tell him NOPE he will ultimately leave it alone. Otherwise the only difference is that there will be some nice storms which will alleviate some of the humidity and clouds over the course of the month. If preferred I can make a log for the storms so people can have fun in them.
Areas Affected: The city, parts of the farms, possibly offshore. Not all at once; just various places at varying points in the month.
Long-Term Impact: Less humidity, more rain, maybe some easing of the saltiness toward the Foreigners.
Suggested Duration & Dates: Month of July, but I'd put up the network post ASAP.

Instigating Character/Incident: As if Valdis doesn't have enough on her plate, she has decided to throw a Ball.
Event Outline: Valdis will announce the ball on the network several weeks in advance. It will be a Midsummer Ball full of dancing, drinking and merriment. (Perhaps even a Solar Eclipse?).
Areas Affected: The Courtyard of Public Opinion
Long-Term Impact: Hopefully some improvement in Kedan and Foreigner relations, an exchange of cultural ideas and camaraderie.
Suggested Duration & Dates: August 21st

Instigating Character/Incident: Midii gets Murdered!
Event Outline: In the days proceeding the Midsummer Ball, just before the official Vote on High crimes, Midii's body will be found in the gardens. Death seemed to have been swift, with a large contusion on the back of her head and blood pooling behind her. No other signs of injury or trauma are visibly apparent. There will be dirt on her hands, under her fingernails, and faint smudges on her clothes, and a small motor and pestle off to one side. Interestingly enough, however, there are no signs of any pastes or grounded herbs. Meaning she was either attacked before she had the chance to make any, or the murderer took them. The area around is full of footprints, most of them indistinguishable from one another, and non which cane be easily tied to the attack. There will be no other clues aside from a few flecks of blood found inside the bowl of the motor, despite the fact that it would be found turned over and a few feet from the body
Areas Affected: Physically, the immediate event would affect Midii alone. However, such a horror would no doubt reach kedan and Foreigners alike, regardless of any personal connections to her, because of the timing, severity, and unexpectedness of such a crime.
Long-Term Impact: Which it's difficult to predict exactly how the murder will impact individuals and groups, what is clear is that there WILL be an impact. Due to the fact that it will occur JUST before the Vote, it wouldn't be unthinkable for some to think it a conspiracy. Either a fellow foreigner looking to sway the sympathy vote, a Cultist who saw an opportunity to get back at someone who's been learning "trade secrets" in the form of local herbalism, or some yet unknown enemy. What was the motive? Was the attack personal? Why Midii? All these questions and more will be sought amidst the heaviness of knowing someone so young--who had been in Keelai for so long--was just killed.
Suggested Duration & Dates: In between the Midsummer Ball and the Vote on High Crimes. I don't know when the latter is scheduled, but I definitely believe the highest impact would be felt during this time frame.
